Madison, Wisconsin Snubs Scouts

On Tuesday, June 1, the Madison Common Council in Madison, Wisconsin, adopted a resolution that prohibited Rhythm & Booms, the nonprofit that organizes Fourth of July fireworks, from donating any money to Boy Scouts. For the past several years, the local Boy Scouts have worked with the fireworks organizers to raise charitable funds for community organizations, and the local Boy Scouts have been recipients of some of those funds.
The Scouts said they would continue to help Rhythm & Booms collect charitable contributions even though they would not benefit. "That would not be our style, to stop helping. That would not be very Scout-like." said Chuck Dobbins, executive director of the Four Lake Council.
